If you cannot find your answer here, e-mail us Why handcrafted soaps? Handcrafted soaps are completely different from the soaps you can buy in the stores, for many reasons. Most of the commercial soaps are made from a beef tallow base (cheap and easily available), then a lot of ingredients will be added to improve the shelf life, appearance etc..., most of them will contain detergent. Also, glycerine is removed in the process and sold as a by-product, handcrafted soaps will retain the glycerin naturally occurring in the soap, that has good emolliant properties. Do your soaps have a neutral PH? Natural soaps cannot have a neutral PH, it is always a basic PH (8-10). This is not bad for the skin and it acts like a natural preservative for the soap, preventing bacteria to grow. Some brands claim to sell a neutral PH soap, but it is not real soap, it's what is called syndet, a bar of solid detergent. What should I do to store my soap? It is better not to let the soaps stand in water, any soap will start to get softer if let in water. It is better to use a soap dish that can drain the water. Try also to avoid extreme temperatures (cold or hot), direct sunlight might also induce a discoloration over time. How long can you keep the soaps? Our soap are made fresh, their minimum life is 1 year. If kept in good conditions, most of them can last more than one year. How long will a soap last? This depends on how many people are using the soap. On average a soap will last around a minimum of one month if one person is using it. Are these Soaps suitable for kids or babies? The most recommended soaps for kids and babies are the Little Tykes, and the Goat Milk. For any other soap, consult your physician. Why the different prices? Depending on the complexity and ingredients used on our soaps, the prices vary. For instance soaps made from essential oils will cost a little more than those made with fragance alone. Goat milk soaps will have an added value to them. Can I use the soaps as a shampoo bar? Yes you can. Any of the non scruby soaps can be used easily as a shampoo bar, especially the Herbal Soap. When you use a bar of soap as shampoo bar, it leaves the hair with a squeaky clean feeling and if you don't have short hair, you will have to use a conditioner after the shampoo. Can I use these soaps on the face? Yes you can. These soaps have some extra oils in their formulation that makes them perfectly suitable to use on the face. We would especially recommend : Lavender Rosemary Soap , Goat Milk Soap, Eucalyptus Peppermint Soap, Citrus Soap, Peppermint Tea Tree Soap, and Patchouli Rhassoul Soap.
